In a significant move to bolster the welfare of its personnel, the Border Security Force (BSF) Rajasthan Frontier has inaugurated new residential facilities specifically for its women guards stationed at a remote border outpost in Jaisalmer. The initiative aims to provide secure and improved living conditions, directly impacting their operational efficiency and morale.
New Residential Block Inaugurated at Somagep BOP
Inspector General M L Garg of the BSF Rajasthan Frontier officially inaugurated the new accommodation for women guards on Wednesday. The facility is located at the border outpost Somagep, which is manned by the 122 Battalion in the Jaisalmer sector. During the inauguration, IG Garg emphasized that the new residential block is designed to offer secure and enhanced living facilities for the women personnel deployed in the challenging desert terrain.
He stated that such infrastructure is crucial for improving the overall work performance and boosting the morale of the guards who perform a critical duty along the international border. This development is seen as a step towards modernizing the force's infrastructure and addressing the specific needs of its female cadre.
Civic Action Programme Benefits Border Villages
Alongside the inauguration, the BSF organized a civic action programme in the border village of Jhalariya, focusing on the welfare of the local population residing near the frontier. Chief guest IG M L Garg distributed various essential materials to the residents of Jhalariya, Karamawali, Mandla, and Murar ki Dhani areas. The distribution was facilitated through the local sarpanch, ensuring the aid reached the intended beneficiaries.
This outreach effort is part of the BSF's ongoing commitment to fostering strong and supportive relations with the border communities, whose cooperation is vital for national security.
Medical Camp Provides Healthcare to Villagers
As a key component of the civic programme, a medical camp was also set up to provide free health check-ups to the villagers. Such camps are instrumental in addressing basic healthcare needs in these remote locations, where access to medical facilities is often limited. The initiative underscores the BSF's role not just as a security force but also as a contributor to the well-being of the population in the border regions.
The combined events of the day highlight the BSF Rajasthan Frontier's dual focus: enhancing the operational readiness and welfare of its own personnel, particularly women guards, while simultaneously engaging in community development activities that strengthen the bond with border inhabitants.
