BRS Urges Collector to Protect Rs 800 Crore Govt Land in Hyderabad
BRS Seeks Protection of Rs 800 Crore Govt Land in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has urged the Hyderabad district collector to safeguard eight acres of government land in survey number 157/1 located in Thokatta village, Trimulgherry mandal, Bowenpally, from private encroachment.

BRS Delegation Meets District Collector

BRS spokesperson Krishank, along with other party leaders, met District Collector Priyanka Ala on Monday and submitted a memorandum requesting the protection of the land, which is valued at approximately Rs 800 crore. The delegation stressed that the land should not fall into the hands of private individuals.

Historical Background of the Land

According to the BRS, the land has historically been treated as government property, known as Poramboke Sarkari land. Revenue records dating back to 1955, Land Encroachment proceedings from 1975-76, and multiple court rulings have consistently affirmed the government's interest in the property. The land has been the subject of legal and administrative proceedings for several decades.

Court and Revenue Authority Stance: Various courts and revenue authorities have repeatedly rejected private claims over the property. In 2025, Cantonment Congress MLA Sri Ganesh and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy proposed the construction of 6,000 Indiramma houses on the same land, treating it as government property meant for public welfare.

Concerns Over Private Control

Despite these measures, the land is reportedly now under private control and has been fenced off, causing concern among local residents. The BRS delegation demanded a thorough inquiry into the title, classification, possession, and legal status of the land. They also called for an examination of all historical revenue, survey, and legal records, as well as a joint verification by revenue, survey, and legal authorities.

Call for Transparency

The BRS emphasized that public property of such magnitude must be safeguarded and that complete transparency is essential in the interest of the people of Hyderabad and Telangana. The district collector assured the delegation that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken.

Conclusion

The BRS remains vigilant about protecting government assets and ensuring that public land is used for the benefit of the community. The party will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to prevent any unauthorized occupation.
