Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar, along with municipal corporation (MC) zonal commissioners Amanpreet Singh and Neeraj Jain, conducted inspections in several areas on Thursday to assess preparations ahead of the monsoon season. The officials visited Dhoka Mohalla, Dharampura, and Ranjit Park, among other locations, with the primary objective of reviewing arrangements to prevent waterlogging.
Focus on Retaining Walls
During the inspection, strict directions were issued to expedite the work of establishing retaining walls around the Dharampura nullah. This initiative is part of an ongoing project to cover the nullah and is aimed at preventing overflow of water into residential areas during heavy rains.
Low-Lying Areas Under Scrutiny
MLA Parashar emphasized that he has been working to bring relief to residents living in low-lying areas near the Buddha Nullah. He stated that officials have been directed to speed up the construction of retaining walls, and if necessary, additional labor will be deployed at the site to ensure timely completion.
The MC officials also highlighted that the focus is likely to be on city-specific concerns, particularly in areas prone to flooding. The inspections are part of a broader effort to mitigate the impact of monsoon rains and ensure the safety and convenience of residents.
