Detroit SportsNet Announced as New Broadcasting Home for Tigers and Red Wings

Sports fans in Detroit have received major news regarding how they will watch their beloved professional teams. Ilitch Sports + Entertainment has officially announced the launch of Detroit SportsNet (DSN), which will become the new year-round broadcasting home for both the Detroit Tigers baseball team and the Detroit Red Wings hockey franchise.

Timeline for the Transition to the New Network

The Detroit Tigers will make their move to Detroit SportsNet beginning with the 2026 Major League Baseball season. Their hockey counterparts, the Detroit Red Wings, will join the network starting with the 2026–27 National Hockey League season. This significant change follows last month's decision by both teams to depart from FanDuel Sports Network and its parent company, Main Street Sports Group.

Subscription Pricing and Streaming Details Revealed

Detroit SportsNet will offer fans two primary subscription options. The monthly plan will cost $19.99, while an annual subscription will be available for $189.99. Choosing the yearly option provides savings of nearly $50 compared to paying monthly for twelve consecutive months.

The network will also feature a limited trial period for early adopters. Fans who sign up between March 2 and March 22 will not be charged until April 1. This arrangement allows subscribers to watch the Tigers' season opener in San Diego along with four additional regular season games before making a final commitment to continue with the service.

Technical Infrastructure and Broadcast Talent

Detroit SportsNet will be powered by MLB Media, with Tigers games streaming through the familiar MLB app. This integration makes the transition easier for fans who already use the platform for baseball content. Streaming arrangements for Red Wings games are still being finalized and will be announced in the coming months.

Despite the channel being new, the broadcast teams will remain unchanged. Jason Benetti and Dan Dickerson will continue leading Tigers coverage, joined by analysts Andy Dirks and Dan Petry. On the hockey side, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond will maintain their positions as the primary broadcast voices when the Red Wings move to Detroit SportsNet.

Additional Distribution and Future Announcements

According to Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, more details about where Detroit SportsNet will be available through cable, satellite, and over-the-air providers will be announced in the coming months. For now, fans have gained clarity on three critical aspects: when the broadcasting switch will occur, how much it will cost to access the content, and confirmation that their trusted broadcast voices will remain in place.

This announcement represents a significant shift in Detroit sports broadcasting, providing fans with a dedicated home for both their baseball and hockey teams with transparent pricing and familiar commentary teams.
