Yogi Adityanath attacks Congress and Samajwadi Party over Waqf boards and Babri Masjid
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing them of never questioning the alleged loot by Waqf boards and of supporting the Babri Masjid. He compared the two parties to chameleons for their changing stances on religious issues.
Congress and SP have no right to speak on Ram Mandir
Speaking at a public event in Ayodhya, Adityanath said, "Congress and SP, which supported Babri Masjid, have no right to speak on the matter. The Sanatan faith has been under attack from these parties." He emphasized that the construction of the Ram Mandir was a historic moment for Sanatan dharma and that those who opposed it cannot now claim to be its protectors.
Allegations of corruption in Waqf boards
The Chief Minister further alleged that the Congress and SP never questioned the massive corruption in Waqf boards across the country. "They are like chameleons, changing their colors whenever it suits them. They never raised a voice against the loot of Waqf properties," he said. Adityanath claimed that under the previous governments, Waqf boards were used for personal gains and that his administration had initiated steps to bring transparency.
Sanatan faith under attack
Adityanath reiterated that the Sanatan faith has been under constant attack from the Congress and SP. He accused them of appeasement politics and said that they have always prioritized vote banks over the interests of the Hindu community. "The Ram Mandir is a symbol of our faith and culture. Those who opposed it have no moral authority to speak about Sanatan dharma," he added.
Response from opposition
The Samajwadi Party and Congress have not yet officially responded to Adityanath's remarks. However, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav had earlier criticized the BJP for politicizing the Ram Mandir issue. The Congress has also maintained that it respects the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.
