Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Lead Relocation Ceremony in Bahraich

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit Bahraich on Wednesday to personally oversee the distribution of critical financial assistance and land allotment documents to 136 families. These families are being relocated from Bharthapur village, which is situated deep within the core area of the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.

Comprehensive Support for Resettled Families

District Magistrate Akshay Tripathi confirmed that the families will be resettled in Semrahna village, located along a national highway in Mihinpurwa tehsil. This move follows the chief minister's earlier announcement and aims to provide a safer and more dignified living environment.

During the program in Semrahna, CM Yogi Adityanath will perform a bhoomi pujan (ground-breaking ceremony) and hand over cheques of Rs 15 lakh each to the families. Additionally, he will distribute land allotment documents specifically designated for houses and toilets.

Infrastructure and Amenities at New Settlement

The new settlement in Semrahna has been meticulously planned to include a range of essential infrastructure and amenities, ensuring a high quality of life for the relocated families. Key features of the settlement include:

  • Proper drainage systems to manage wastewater effectively.
  • Paved roads for improved connectivity and accessibility.
  • Green spaces to promote environmental sustainability and recreation.
  • LED streetlights for enhanced safety and energy efficiency.
  • Reliable drinking water facilities to meet daily needs.

Furthermore, the settlement will have schools and healthcare facilities in close proximity, catering to both the residents and their livestock. This holistic approach underscores the government's commitment to integrated development under its housing scheme.

Urgency Driven by Tragic Incident

The relocation plan gained significant urgency following a tragic incident on October 29 last year. A boat carrying villagers returning from a weekly market capsized in the Kaudiyala river, resulting in the drowning of nine people, including women and children. Thirteen individuals were rescued, but seven bodies were recovered only after days of intensive search efforts. Two children remain missing to this day.

In response to this heartbreaking event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey and personally visited the affected village. He expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the bereaved families. He also issued directives to officials to expedite the relocation of residents to safer areas at the earliest possible opportunity.

This initiative not only addresses immediate safety concerns but also aligns with broader environmental conservation goals by moving families out of the sensitive core area of the wildlife sanctuary. The government's proactive measures highlight a dedicated effort to balance human welfare with ecological preservation.
