Shanta Kumari, the head of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, has asserted that women should take the lead in building a Hindu Rashtra. Speaking at a gathering in Mandya, Karnataka, she emphasized that the historical respect and high status accorded to women in Indian society must be revived. Kumari called for a societal awakening to recognize the pivotal role of women in shaping the nation's future.
Women's Role in Nation-Building
Kumari highlighted that women have always been central to Indian culture and traditions, but modern influences have diluted their position. She urged women to reclaim their leadership roles, not just in households but in all spheres of society, to pave the way for a Hindu Rashtra. According to her, a society led by women would be more compassionate, just, and aligned with ancient Indian values.
Reviving Historical Status
The Samiti chief stressed that the sense of respect and high status once enjoyed by women in India must be reawakened. She pointed to historical figures and scriptures that celebrate women's wisdom and strength. Kumari believes that by restoring this ethos, society can achieve harmony and progress under the vision of a Hindu Rashtra.
Her remarks come amid ongoing debates about women's empowerment and cultural identity in India. The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the women's wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has long advocated for women's active participation in social and national causes. Kumari's statement reinforces the organization's commitment to promoting women's leadership within its ideological framework.
