A 45-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after being allegedly stabbed by her son-in-law during a domestic dispute in Aaladakatti village, Savadatti taluk, on Monday. The victim has been identified as Mahadevi Karigar. The accused, Arvind Gavali, aged 26, was arrested by police on Tuesday and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

Background of the Incident

According to police reports, Arvind married Mahadevi's daughter approximately one and a half years ago. The couple has a two-month-old baby, and since the delivery, the wife has been residing at her parental home. During this period, Arvind reportedly made repeated video calls to his wife, demanding that she show him the baby.

Escalation of the Argument

Mahadevi informed her son-in-law that frequent use of mobile phones was not feasible as household members were occupied with daily chores. This explanation reportedly led to heated arguments between the two. Enraged by this, Arvind allegedly went to his in-laws' house and attacked Mahadevi with a knife before fleeing the scene.
