Radhakrishnan highlighted that Netaji's vision of a strong and self-reliant Bharat continues to inspire the nation. He urged all citizens to collectively pledge to march toward the ambitious goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, drawing inspiration from Netaji's core ideals of courage, unity, and supreme dedication to the motherland. Netaji, born in Cuttack on January 23, 1897, remains a symbol of unwavering patriotism and resilience.
Commemorative Events and Tributes at Netaji Birthplace Museum
The vice-president participated in several ceremonial activities at the Netaji Birthplace Museum. He hoisted the national flag and offered floral tributes at Netaji's statue, honoring his monumental contributions to India's freedom struggle. A special philately gallery was inaugurated, showcasing rare postage stamps and postal memorabilia related to the Indian National Army (INA), alongside other galleries that highlight Netaji's life and pivotal role in India's independence movement.
A special stamp was released to commemorate the occasion, adding to the historical significance of the event. Radhakrishnan also inaugurated a special exhibition on Netaji, organized by the Ministry of Culture at the interpretation centre of the Netaji memorial. During the program, a video message featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reflections on Netaji, delivered from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, was screened, further connecting the nation's leadership with Netaji's legacy.
Recognition and Infrastructure Development
In a gesture of gratitude, three delegates, including INA personnel, were felicitated for their invaluable contributions to the nation. The vice-president further inaugurated the newly-constructed District Culture Bhawan near the museum complex, enhancing cultural infrastructure in Cuttack.
Radhakrishnan lauded Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for initiatives focused on tribal welfare, stating, "The Odisha government has taken commendable steps to uplift tribal communities and integrate them into the mainstream of development." This acknowledgment underscores the ongoing efforts to align state-level policies with national goals of inclusive growth and social justice.
