A 30-year-old man was fatally shot by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in Jabbowal village, under Tarsikka police station in Amritsar, on Friday night. The victim, Manjinder Singh, who operated an agriculture store, was returning home on his bike when the attack occurred.
Details of the Incident
According to police, the attackers fired approximately eight rounds, with four bullets striking the victim in the back. He was critically wounded and collapsed on the road. Locals who heard the gunshots rushed to the scene and found him lying unconscious. They immediately informed his family and transported him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Victim's Background
Manjinder Singh is survived by his wife and a seven-month-old child. His father, Avtar Singh, provided a statement to the police, leading to the registration of a case. The victim's elder brother, Gurjinder Singh, resides in Australia and has been notified.
Police Investigation
Station House Officer (SHO) Manjit Singh of Tarsikka police station stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. CCTV footage from the area has been obtained, but it is inconclusive due to poor lighting conditions at the time of the incident. The SHO added that the victim had closed his shop and was heading home when two men on a motorcycle intercepted him and opened fire without warning.
Post-Mortem and Family Waiting
The body has been placed in a mortuary pending a post-mortem examination. The family is awaiting the arrival of Manjinder's brother from Australia before proceeding with funeral rites.
