A man was killed and four other persons sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Danua valley in Hazaribag district on Wednesday when two trucks lost control and overturned while moving through the valley. This incident comes just days after six members of a family were killed in the same area on Sunday.
First Accident Near Jodirahi Bridge
The first accident occurred around 3 am near Jodirahi bridge when a truck, carrying pipes from Durgapur in West Bengal to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh, overturned after reportedly suffering brake failure on the downhill stretch. Amir Singh (33), a resident of Etawah, died on the spot. The driver Amit Kumar and another occupant, Raju Yadav, sustained serious injuries.
Second Accident Near Mahanetand Kata
In the second incident around 8 am near Mahanetand Kata, another pipe-laden truck heading towards Bihar lost balance and overturned. The driver Vikas Kumar (37) and co-driver Shivkant Kumar were seriously injured in the accident. Saroj Chaudhary, the officer-in-charge of Chouparan police station, said, “The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and traffic movement on the route was restored after clearance of the vehicles.”
Rescue Operations
Following both accidents, personnel from the Chordaha picket and an NHAI ambulance team rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured were promptly taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Authorities have cleared the debris and restored traffic on the route.
This stretch of road has become a cause for concern after multiple accidents in recent days. Local residents have demanded improved safety measures, including better signage and speed breakers, to prevent further tragedies.
