Abhishek Banerjee Blames BJP, 'New Traitor' for Murshidabad Violence
TMC's Banerjee Blames BJP for Murshidabad Unrest

Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee delivered a sharp warning on Saturday. He spoke at a public rally in Behrampore, Murshidabad district. Banerjee blamed BJP politicians and a new local traitor for stoking recent violence in Beldanga.

Call to Deny BJP Political Space

Banerjee urged residents to stop providing political oxygen to the BJP. He said the community must deny the opposition party any space in the region. The Trinamool leader warned that even limited communal polarization could weaken Murshidabad district.

"If BJP manages to sow seeds of divisive politics even in one booth, Murshidabad will weaken and BJP will become stronger," Banerjee told the crowd. He appealed for continued unity, referencing the district's solidarity since 2021.

Allegations of Instigation

Banerjee claimed he learned the Beldanga unrest was allegedly instigated by BJP officials and a new traitor of the soil. He did not name anyone specifically. However, he reminded voters they had already shown the door to one such traitor. Banerjee described that individual as BJP's dummy candidate in past elections.

TMC Attacks PM Modi on Social Media

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Malda. This is another north Bengal district near the Bangladesh border. The Trinamool Congress used social media platform X to launch a strong attack against Modi and his party.

The TMC accused the BJP of running on communal poison and daily hate broadcasts. The party statement alleged BJP was planting divisive agents of chaos in Murshidabad. It also questioned Modi's silence on alleged targeting of Bengali-speaking migrant workers.

Concerns Over Migrant Workers

The Trinamool Congress called for action against Chief Ministers in BJP-governed states. It cited instances where migrants were tortured, detained, deported, and even lynched. The party asserted Bengal should not receive lectures on dignity while language, culture, identity, and existence are criminalized elsewhere.

This political confrontation highlights rising tensions in Bengal's border districts. Both major parties are actively campaigning as elections approach. The focus on communal harmony and migrant issues reflects key battle lines in the region.
