Trinamool Congress MP Pratima Mondal has dismissed speculation that she was among a group of party MPs who had reportedly signed a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Responding to media queries, Mondal stated that she had no knowledge of any such move and that she remains firmly within the party fold.
Rebel Speculation Denied
Reports had suggested that 19 to 20 TMC MPs had signed a letter expressing dissatisfaction with the party leadership. However, Mondal categorically denied any involvement. 'I am not aware of any such letter. I have always stood with the party and will continue to do so,' she said.
Babul Supriyo's Reaffirmation
Former Union Minister and TMC MP Babul Supriyo also reaffirmed his loyalty to the party. In a statement, Supriyo said, 'There is no question of leaving the party. I am committed to the ideals of the Trinamool Congress and its leadership.' His remarks come amid speculation that some MPs might be disgruntled over organizational matters.
Party Unity in Focus
The developments have prompted the TMC leadership to reiterate the importance of unity within the party. Senior party leaders have been reaching out to MPs to address any concerns and ensure cohesion. The party is gearing up for upcoming electoral battles and any signs of dissent could be detrimental.
Political analysts suggest that the rumors of dissent might be exaggerated, as the TMC has a strong track record of maintaining discipline among its ranks. However, the party is likely to take precautionary measures to prevent any potential fallout.
