Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Wednesday that India has successfully overcome persistent security challenges that plagued the nation for decades, crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He made these remarks in Panchkula after reviewing what he termed the "largest police graduation ceremony in the country."
A Decade of Transforming National Security
Addressing the newly inducted police personnel, Shah outlined the significant shift in India's internal security landscape. "Some years ago, there were three big law-and-order challenges in the country - left-wing extremism, terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir, and armed outfits in the northeast," he stated. "But after 10 years of the Modi government, there is peace in these three areas, and the country is safe on these three fronts." He emphasized that the government now stands firmly with states in combating contemporary threats like drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, and organized crime.
New Recruits as Brand Ambassadors Against Social Evils
The Union Home Minister urged the passing-out cadets to become active crusaders in the nation's fight against societal ills. He specifically called upon them to be brand ambassadors of the campaign against drugs and other social evils. Shah highlighted the government's unwavering support, stating it "stands like a rock" with state forces in these endeavors. He advised the police force to adapt to evolving challenges, noting, "We have to move on while accepting new challenges and changes."
Honouring Sacrifice and Legacy in Chandigarh
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah attended a series of events in Chandigarh and Panchkula. He paid homage at a Veer Bal Diwas event commemorating the martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh. At this gathering, Shah underscored the profound sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur, revered as 'Hind Ki Chadar', asserting that "there wouldn't have been any Hindus" without his supreme sacrifice. His itinerary also included unveiling a bronze statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and participating in a seminar focused on the cooperatives sector.
The Home Minister's visit underscored the central government's focus on national security, historical remembrance, and cooperative development, marking a day of significant political and symbolic engagements in the region.
