Senior Congress leader Ashwin Joshi dies at 66

Senior Congress leader and former MLA Ashwin Joshi passed away on Friday following a cardiac arrest. He was 66 years old.

Joshi, who had been reportedly battling respiratory issues and a chronic leg ailment, suffered a cardiac arrest around 8 am. He was immediately rushed to Shalby Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful.

Political Career

A nephew of veteran Congress leader Mahesh Joshi, Ashwin represented the Indore-3 assembly constituency for three consecutive terms. He began his political journey in student politics and gradually rose to become a prominent figure in the state Congress. He maintained a close political association with former chief minister Digvijaya Singh.

Family sources confirmed that his funeral would take place once his son arrives from abroad.
