Scooter Rider Dies in Mohali Car Accident

A scooter rider died after being hit by an allegedly speeding car in the Sohana area of Mohali. The deceased, identified as Dharminder, a resident of Sohana, was on his way to Sector 70 to refuel his scooter when the accident occurred on April 21 at around 6:30 am.

Accident Details

According to Shiva, the niece of the deceased, she and her brother Rohit were following Dharminder on a motorcycle. At the intersection near Singh Shaheedan gurdwara in Sohana, a Swift car coming from the direction of Airport Road, Sector 82, rammed into the scooter. The car was allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner.

Family members rushed Dharminder to a private hospital in Sector 71, from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH-32) and later shifted to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI). Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Police Action

The car driver has been identified as Yuvraj, a resident of Phase 7, Mohali. Based on the complaint filed by the family, the police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway.
