A Rajasthan police constable has been dismissed from service after being found involved in drug trafficking, officials confirmed on Friday. The constable, identified as Vinod Singh, was posted in Pratapgarh district before his arrest.
Arrest and Legal Action
Singh was arrested on April 24 in connection with a case registered at Pindwara police station in Sirohi district for allegedly transporting 244 grams of smack. He was booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), police said. The arrest followed a routine check during which the contraband was discovered in his possession.
Departmental Inquiry and Dismissal
According to an official statement, a preliminary inquiry and departmental examination revealed that Singh, despite being fully aware of the law, was involved in the serious offence of drug trafficking. The department termed the act a grave violation of service conduct rules and an instance of moral turpitude. Taking note of the seriousness of the case, the accused constable was dismissed from state service on Thursday under relevant provisions of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958.
Message from Senior Officials
A senior officer stated that the action sends a clear message that anyone violating the law, whether inside or outside the department, will face strict legal and administrative consequences. The dismissal underscores the commitment of the Rajasthan Police to maintain integrity and discipline within its ranks. The department has also initiated steps to ensure that such incidents are not repeated, emphasizing zero tolerance towards illegal activities by personnel.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb drug trafficking in the state. Further investigations are underway to determine if Singh had any links to larger drug networks.
