Congress leader Rahul Gandhi issued a stark warning on Saturday about impending inflation, asserting that the Modi government plans to increase prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG following the upcoming assembly elections. He sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for what he described as a lack of coherent strategy and direction in managing the nation's economy.

In a detailed post on social media platform X, Gandhi highlighted several economic indicators that signal looming inflation. He pointed to the weakening Indian rupee, which he noted is "heading towards 100" against the US dollar, and a significant rise in industrial fuel prices as clear warning signs.
"The government may label this situation as 'normal,' but the reality is far more concerning," Gandhi stated. "Production and transportation costs are set to increase substantially, micro, small, and medium enterprises will bear the brunt of this impact, prices of everyday essential items will escalate, and foreign institutional investment will exit the market even faster, placing additional strain on the stock market."
He emphasized that these economic developments would inevitably have a direct and profound effect on every household's financial situation across the country.
Congress Accuses Government of Moral Failure in International Conflict
Simultaneously, the Congress party launched a separate criticism against the Modi administration regarding its stance on the escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The party accused the government of demonstrating "moral cowardice" and committing a "betrayal of civilisational values" by failing to condemn the US-Israel military actions against Iran.
Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh addressed the ongoing West Asian conflict, which had reached its twenty-first day. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been unable to leverage his much-publicized friendships with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to facilitate a ceasefire in the region," Ramesh remarked.
He posed a critical question to the government: "Has the Modi administration condemned, criticized, or deplored the brutal efforts by the United States and Israel to force regime change and state collapse in Iran, actions that could potentially trigger a civil war? The answer remains a resounding no."
