Rahul Gandhi: Democracy Under Attack, Youth Must Speak Up

Rahul Gandhi Speaks Out on Democratic Threats in Coimbatore Event

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi delivered a strong message during a school celebration in the Nilgiris district. He stated that India's democratic system is currently under severe attack. According to Gandhi, the people running the government are responsible for this assault.

Youth Must Raise Their Voice Against Attacks

Rahul Gandhi participated in the golden jubilee celebrations of St Thomas English High School at Gudalur. He interacted with students and emphasized the critical role of young people. Gandhi urged the youth to speak up bravely against what he described as ongoing attacks.

"Democracy is a voice," he said. "The voice of the people is under attack by those in government and by the people who are running the government." He pointed out that institutions like the Election Commission are being targeted. Individuals who disagree with the ruling ideology face threats, he added.

Gandhi called for young individuals who are brave and confident. They should not fear asking questions, he stressed. This interaction took place on Tuesday, with DMK deputy general secretary and Nilgiris MP A Raja sharing the stage.

Education System and Diversity Highlighted

Responding to student queries, Rahul Gandhi discussed the country's education system. He argued that education must not become privatized and expensive. While private schools and colleges have a place, he emphasized the importance of good-quality government education.

"The government has to allocate sufficient funds in the budget for education," Gandhi stated. He also spoke about India's rich diversity, noting the presence of different religions, languages, and cultures.

He mentioned that anyone can learn languages like Tamil, Malayalam, or Hindi. People should feel free to follow any religion, he said. "We have to respect them. We do not have any right to threaten them to follow certain things," Gandhi asserted.

Focus on Job Creation and Manufacturing Sector

Rahul Gandhi addressed the need for job creation in India. He said the country must foster an atmosphere that generates employment opportunities. Gandhi highlighted the importance of focusing on production and manufacturing.

He acknowledged India's success in the IT sector but expressed concern. Artificial intelligence is causing trouble for these industries, he noted. "We have to ensure that we do not lose out in the service sector," Gandhi said.

However, he stressed the urgency of building the manufacturing sector. "The Chinese are dominating the manufacturing sector," he pointed out. This call to action came during his detailed discussion with the students.

Pongal Celebrations with Tribal Community

After the school event, Rahul Gandhi joined Pongal celebrations organized on the campus. He danced with members of the tribal community, participating in the festive activities. This engagement highlighted his connection with local traditions and people.

The entire event underscored Gandhi's key messages about democracy, youth empowerment, education, and economic priorities. His remarks in Coimbatore have sparked discussions on these critical issues facing the nation.
