In a dramatic turn of events, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha launched a scathing attack on party convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of fostering a toxic work environment within the party. Chadha, who recently resigned from all party positions, made the remarks in a series of social media posts on Tuesday.
Chadha's Allegations
Chadha, who was once considered a close aide of Kejriwal, said that he felt suffocated in the party and described himself as the "right man in the wrong party." He alleged that Kejriwal's leadership style was dictatorial and that dissent was not tolerated. "There is no space for independent thought. The party has become a one-man show where everyone is expected to blindly follow orders," Chadha wrote.
Toxic Work Culture
The former AAP leader also highlighted instances of verbal abuse and humiliation faced by party workers. He claimed that many talented individuals had left the party due to the toxic environment. "I have seen how dedicated workers are treated. It is heartbreaking. The party has lost its way," he added.
Chadha's resignation came as a shock to many, as he was a prominent face of the party and had been instrumental in its growth in Punjab. He was also the party's co-incharge for the state.
Party's Response
The AAP, in response, dismissed Chadha's allegations as baseless. Party spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, "Raghav Chadha's claims are completely false. The party has always encouraged open dialogue and constructive criticism. His decision to leave is unfortunate but we wish him the best."
Political Implications
Political analysts believe that Chadha's exit could have significant implications for AAP, especially in Punjab where the party is already facing internal strife. "This is a major blow to AAP's image. Chadha was a key strategist and his departure will leave a void," said political commentator Dr. Ravi Sharma.
Chadha, however, has not ruled out joining another political party. When asked about his future plans, he said, "I will take some time to decide. My priority is to serve the people, and I will choose the right platform to do so."
The development comes at a time when AAP is gearing up for the upcoming municipal elections in Delhi. The party hopes to retain its stronghold despite the recent setbacks.
