Puducherry CM Lauds Congress Support for TVK's Vijay

SALEM: All India NR Congress (AINRC) leader and Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Wednesday lauded Congress's decision to support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay to form a government in Tamil Nadu.

Political Move Praised

“It is a good political decision in a situation where a government has to be formed,” Rangasamy told reporters here. His remarks come amidst ongoing political discussions in Tamil Nadu, where alliances are being forged ahead of potential government formation.

AINRC's Role in NDA

Rangasamy's AINRC is part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Puducherry, which retained power in the Union territory after winning 17 seats in the recent assembly election. Before taking oath as Chief Minister for the fifth time, Rangasamy visited the Sri Sadhguru Appa Paithiyam Swamigal Temple in Salem Suramangalam and placed the list of ministers before the statue of the late sage.

The Chief Minister told reporters that he was confident that Puducherry would eventually achieve statehood. This statement reflects ongoing aspirations for greater autonomy and recognition for the Union territory.

Context and Background

Congress's decision to support TVK's Vijay marks a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape. TVK, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, has been gaining traction as a new political force. Rangasamy's endorsement underscores the evolving dynamics among regional parties.

Rangasamy's AINRC, despite being part of the NDA at the national level, has maintained its regional identity. The party's performance in the recent elections reaffirmed its stronghold in Puducherry.

As Puducherry looks forward to stable governance, Rangasamy's confidence in statehood and his appreciation for Congress's move indicate potential realignments in Tamil Nadu politics. The coming days may see further developments as parties position themselves for future electoral battles.
