Trichy: Three people, including a 28-year-old pregnant woman, were killed in a crash involving a car, a two-wheeler, and a stationary truck near Aravakurichi in Karur district on Tuesday. Two people, including a child, sustained injuries in the incident.
Details of the Accident
According to Karur police, V Aravindh (30), his wife A Janani (28), and their two-year-old daughter were traveling in a sedan car from Bengaluru to their native Usilampatti. Janani was eight months pregnant at the time. The car was being driven by P Veera (40) of Usilampatti.
Around 6 am on Tuesday, while approaching the Esanatham junction near Aravakurichi on the Salem-Madurai national highway, a two-wheeler attempted to cross the highway. Veera tried to steer the speeding vehicle away from the two-wheeler, but the car hit the two-wheeler and then rammed into a stationary truck parked on the roadside.
Fatalities and Injuries
Veera, Aravindh, and Janani died on the spot. The couple's daughter and the two-wheeler rider, identified as P Pandithurai (32) of Aravakkurichi, were injured. The injured were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were moved to Karur Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The Aravakurichi police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
