Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Major Projects in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Gujarat on Tuesday, where he inaugurated two significant facilities and launched numerous development projects across the state. The visit highlighted key advancements in semiconductor manufacturing and cultural preservation, alongside substantial infrastructure investments.

Inauguration of Kaynes Semicon's OSAT Facility in Sanand

One of the major highlights of the visit was the inauguration of Kaynes Semicon's outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Sanand. This state-of-the-art facility has been established with an estimated investment of Rs 3,300 crore. It is designed to undertake critical processes in chip manufacturing, specifically packaging and testing.

The OSAT facility is projected to produce approximately 60 lakh chips per day, marking a significant step forward in India's semiconductor industry. This initiative aligns with national efforts to boost domestic production and reduce dependency on imports in the electronics sector.

  • Projects worth Rs 10,900 crore fall under the departments of power, road transport and highways, and railways, focusing on improving connectivity and energy supply.
  • An additional Rs 8,886 crore has been allocated for initiatives by the state urban development department, water resources, roads and buildings, health and family welfare, tourism, and tribal development departments.

Furthermore, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), Prime Minister Modi virtually handed over 38,949 homes to beneficiaries across 34 districts in Gujarat, providing affordable housing to thousands of families.

Significance of the Visit

This visit underscores the government's commitment to fostering economic growth, technological innovation, and cultural preservation in Gujarat. The inauguration of the OSAT facility is expected to boost the local economy and create job opportunities, while the museum and development projects aim to improve quality of life and heritage conservation.

The combined initiatives represent a holistic approach to development, integrating industrial progress with social welfare and cultural enrichment. As Gujarat continues to be a focal point for investment and innovation, such projects are likely to have lasting impacts on the state's development trajectory.
