Chatra: An NTPC employee was run over by a speeding trailer near Jabra Kasari More under Simaria police station limits on Sunday night. Police identified the victim as Kamlesh Oraon (40). His death triggered protests, with villagers blocking the Ranchi-Chatra road for nearly three hours.

Compensation Assured After Blockade

Simaria circle officer Gaurav Kumar Raj and police station in-charge Surya Pratap Singh assured compensation to the bereaved family, after which the blockade was called off. The officers stated that an immediate relief of Rs 3 lakh has been approved, of which Rs 2 lakh has been handed over through cheque and Rs 30,000 in cash. The remaining amount will be paid soon.

Details of the Incident

The accident occurred late Sunday evening when the victim was reportedly crossing the road. The speeding trailer driver fled the scene. Locals gathered and protested, demanding strict action and compensation. The road blockade caused significant traffic disruption.
