Mysuru Leaders Honor Ambedkar's Legacy on 135th Birth Anniversary

In a significant event in Mysuru, former minister and Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait underscored the critical importance of equality in contemporary society. Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of Constitution architect BR Ambedkar, Sait called upon every individual to integrate the ideals of equality and the spirit of struggle championed by Ambedkar into their daily lives.

Celebrations Organized by Multiple Authorities

The commemorative event was held at Kalamandira and was jointly organized by the district administration, zilla panchayat, Mysuru City Corporation, social welfare department, and a federation of organizations associated with Dr BR Ambedkar and Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram. This collaborative effort highlighted the widespread respect and admiration for Ambedkar's contributions across various governmental and social sectors.

Emphasis on Educating the Younger Generation

Sait stressed the urgent need to educate the younger generation about the lives, struggles, sacrifices, and profound thoughts of great leaders like Ambedkar. He noted that Ambedkar was not merely a leader for the Dalit community but a scholar of immense knowledge and intellect, entrusted with the monumental task of drafting the Indian Constitution. Sait urged students to prioritize education, asserting that knowledge has the power to transform both individual lives and society at large.

Societal Challenges in Spreading Ambedkar's Ideals

Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda echoed these sentiments, pointing out that society has not yet fully succeeded in taking Ambedkar's ideals and philosophy to the masses. This acknowledgment underscores the ongoing challenges in ensuring that Ambedkar's vision of social justice and equality reaches every corner of the community.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Congress MLCs D Thimmaiah and K Shivakumar, and Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority vice-chairperson Pushpa Amarnath. Prior to the main ceremony, floral tributes were offered to the statue of Ambedkar at the Town Hall premises by Chamundeshwari MLA GT Deve Gowda and JD(S) MLC CN Manjegowda. Following this tribute, a procession was flagged off, moving from the Town Hall to Kalamandira.
