President Droupadi Murmu Honors Constitution Framers and Outlines National Vision in Republic Day Eve Address

In a stirring address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu paid heartfelt tributes to the visionary makers of the Indian Constitution, crediting them with establishing a "strong bedrock for the spirit of nationalism and the unity of the country" through their foundational provisions. She emphasized that the Constitution stands as the cornerstone document of the largest republic in world history, with its ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity defining the very essence of the Indian republic.

Economic Resolve and Infrastructure Development

President Murmu underscored India's unwavering resolve to ascend to the position of the "world's third-largest economy in the near future," highlighting the nation's continuous economic growth amidst global uncertainties. She pointed to strategic investments in world-class infrastructure as a key driver in rebuilding economic strength on a grand scale. Atma-nirbharta (self-reliance) and swadeshi (indigenous production) were reaffirmed as guiding principles in this economic journey.

She lauded the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the "most important decision for economic integration of the country after Independence," noting that it has effectively established a 'one nation, one market' system. The President expressed confidence that recent decisions to enhance the GST framework will further bolster the economy. Additionally, she mentioned the issuance of four Labour Codes aimed at benefiting workers and accelerating enterprise development.

Cultural Patriotism and Women's Empowerment

Reflecting on cultural heritage, President Murmu described the national song 'Vande Mataram' as the country's "lyrical national prayer," which instills deep patriotism in every Indian. She noted the ongoing celebrations marking 150 years of its composition, mentioning how poet Subramanya Bharati's Tamil version and translations in other languages, including Sri Aurobindo's English rendition, have popularized the song widely.

Highlighting the critical role of women in strengthening democracy and national development, the President stated that active and empowered participation of women is extremely important for India. She cited increased efforts in health, education, safety, and economic empowerment as factors boosting women's involvement across various sectors, with women breaking traditional stereotypes and forging ahead.

Murmu pointed to sporting achievements as evidence of women's dominance, referencing India's victories in the ICC Women's World Cup and the Blind Women's T20 World Cup, as well as the Chess World Cup final between two Indian women. She emphasized that the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' will elevate political empowerment and support women-led development, crucial for realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). With growing contributions from women, India aims to set an exemplary model of an inclusive republic based on gender equality.
