Colva: South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes on Saturday urged Goans to uphold the legacy of Jack de Sequeira, known as the Father of the Opinion Poll, while unveiling a life-size statue of his at Varca.
The statue was unveiled in the presence of Sequeira’s grandson Jack Sukhija, former Goa Congress president Amit Patkar and other Congress functionaries.
The statue was installed by Benaulim Congress block on private property owned by the family of its vice-president, Solon Furtado. Sukhija thanked the Benaulim Congress block for honouring his great-grandfather and said Sequeira deserved a place in the Goa legislative assembly complex.

He expressed hope that a future Congress government would accord him the recognition he deserves.
