In a tragic turn of events, Mahadevi Ghodageri, 58, died by suicide at her residence in Ghodageri village of Hukkeri taluk on Saturday. She was the mother of Suma Manjargi, who is accused of plotting her husband's murder for Rs 2 crore insurance money.
Incident Details
Police reported that Mahadevi was alone at home at the time of the incident. Family members and villagers were left shocked when the news emerged, adding to the distress surrounding the already high-profile murder case.
Her son-in-law, Sandeep Manjargi, 46, a former soldier, was allegedly murdered a few months ago in the same village. The case had drawn statewide attention after allegations surfaced that his wife, Suma Manjargi, had conspired to kill him for insurance money. Suma is currently in judicial custody.

Locals said Mahadevi was deeply disturbed by the developments, including her daughter’s arrest, social stigma, and ongoing scrutiny. She had reportedly become withdrawn and anxious in recent weeks.

Police Investigation
Kakati and Yamakanamardi police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.
