RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Votes in Nagpur, Stresses Voting as Citizen's Duty
Mohan Bhagwat Votes in Nagpur, Calls Voting a Fundamental Duty

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat exercised his voting right in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections on Thursday. He highlighted the crucial role of responsible voting in a democratic setup.

Bhagwat Votes at Nagpur Night High School

Dr Mohan Bhagwat cast his ballot at the Nagpur Night High School polling station located in Mahal. Former RSS Sarkaryavah and executive member Bhaiyyaji Joshi joined him during this civic duty. Both leaders arrived early at the polling booth, among the first voters to participate in the electoral process.

Voting as a Fundamental Duty

Speaking to media representatives after voting, Bhagwat stressed that participation in elections goes beyond being a mere right. He described it as a fundamental duty for every citizen. "In a democratic structure, voting is extremely important," Bhagwat stated. He urged voters to consider public interest carefully and select the candidate who appears most suitable.

Bhagwat's Views on NOTA

The RSS chief also commented on the use of NOTA (None of the Above) option in elections. He remarked that rejecting all candidates does not serve democracy effectively. "NOTA means rejecting everyone, but in reality, voters should select the available best option," Bhagwat explained.

He referenced historical wisdom to support his point. "Anarchy is a situation where there is no ruler, and that is the worst possible condition. Even the Mahabharata speaks about this," he noted.

Bhagwat cautioned that excessive use of NOTA could have unintended consequences. "When we opt for NOTA, we often end up helping those we do not want," he warned. He emphasized that this practice might indirectly benefit undesirable elements in the political landscape.

Call for Informed Voting

The RSS leader urged voters to make informed and responsible choices. He advised citizens to evaluate candidates based on their merits and alignment with public interest. Bhagwat's message reinforced the importance of active participation in democratic processes for the nation's welfare.

Nagpur witnessed steady voter turnout as residents fulfilled their civic responsibility. The municipal elections determine local governance and development priorities for the city.
