PM Modi Hails BJP's Electoral Surge, Slams Congress on Assam Infiltration
Modi Praises BJP's Rise, Attacks Congress on Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong address on Sunday, highlighting the Bharatiya Janata Party's growing influence across India. He stated that the nation has consistently trusted the BJP over the past year and a half, with the party experiencing a steady upward trajectory.

BJP's Electoral Dominance

Modi pointed to recent election results as proof of the BJP's widespread appeal. He mentioned the record mandate in Bihar, where voters backed the party heavily even after two decades in power. The Prime Minister also celebrated the BJP's historic win in Mumbai's municipal corporation elections, marking the first time the party secured control of one of the world's largest civic bodies.

"BJP has become the first choice for everyone in the country," Modi asserted. He noted significant support in Kerala's municipal polls too, where Thiruvananthapuram elected a BJP mayor for the first time.

Criticism of Congress

Turning his focus to the opposition, Modi accused the Congress party of compromising Assam's security during its long rule in the northeastern state. He claimed that Congress handed over land to infiltrators in exchange for votes, leading to increased illegal immigration.

"Infiltration kept rising under Congress rule for decades," Modi said during his speech in Assam's Kaliabor. "Illegal immigrants encroached upon forests, animal corridors, and traditional institutions."

He contrasted this with the BJP government's actions, stating that his administration is protecting Assam's identity and culture by evicting encroachers. Modi emphasized that voters trust the BJP for good governance and development, as seen in the Bihar election results.

Mumbai BMC Election Details

Modi's remarks follow the BJP's significant victory in Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance crossed the halfway mark in the 227-member body, though narrowly. The BJP secured 89 seats while Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena won 29, giving them a slim majority.

This outcome means the BJP will require Shinde's support for major decisions. The Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray combine captured 71 seats, retaining strongholds in Marathi-dominated areas but losing control of Asia's wealthiest civic body.

Assam Development Projects

During his two-day visit to Assam, Modi inaugurated key infrastructure projects. He laid the foundation stone for the Rs 6,957-crore Kaziranga Elevated Corridor in Nagaon district, performing a traditional 'Bhoomi Poojan' ceremony.

Officials explained that this corridor aims to ensure safe wildlife movement across Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. It will also reduce accidents on National Highway-715, boost ecotourism, and create local employment opportunities.

The project forms part of the four-laning of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh section of NH-715. It includes approximately 34.45 kilometers of elevated wildlife-friendly corridors, along with bypasses at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat. Modi personally reviewed a model of the corridor during his visit.

The Prime Minister virtually flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains: the Dibrugarh-Gomti Nagar (Lucknow) route and the Kamakhya-Rohtak service. These initiatives underscore the government's focus on connectivity and development in the region.
