PM Modi Proclaims New Political Era in Tamil Nadu, Asserts 'NDA In, DMK Out'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address at a political rally in Coimbatore on Saturday, declaring that a transformative new chapter is being written in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the people of the state are sending a clear and resounding message: "NDA is in and DMK is out." This statement underscores the shifting dynamics as the National Democratic Alliance seeks to strengthen its foothold in the region.

Women's Reservation Bill Becomes Central Issue

During his speech, Modi highlighted the significant impact that the women's reservation bill could have had on Tamil Nadu's political representation. He pointed out that many Tamil women from ordinary families would have become Members of Parliament and Members of the Legislative Assembly if the legislation had been successfully passed. The Prime Minister expressed deep disappointment, stating that a noble effort aimed at empowering women was derailed due to opposition from certain political quarters.

Modi directly criticized the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Congress party, along with their allies, for making the women's reservation bill a target of hatred and engaging in petty politics. He posed a pointed question to the audience: "Why does it trouble DMK and Congress to see ordinary women rise?" This rhetorical inquiry aimed to underscore what he perceives as their resistance to gender equality and social progress.

The Prime Minister urged women across Tamil Nadu to seize what he described as a great opportunity on April 23 to teach the DMK a lesson through their votes. He framed the upcoming electoral process as a pivotal moment for female voters to assert their influence and demand better representation in governance.

Sharp Critique of Dynastic Politics and Corruption

In a scathing attack on Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and the DMK's leadership structure, Modi accused the party of perpetuating dynastic politics. He characterized the DMK's policy as "by the family, of the family and for the family," echoing a famous phrase to highlight familial control over key positions.

Modi elaborated that the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, numerous MPs, and even media houses are effectively controlled by a single family. He alleged that there is intense competition within this family, particularly between the son and son-in-law, but framed it negatively by stating: "The competition is for who is involved in greater corruption."

Expressing national and regional frustration, Modi declared that India is tired of such dynastic politics involving a son and son-in-law, and Tamil Nadu is facing a similar situation. This criticism aligns with his broader narrative against family-centric political dynasties, which he often contrasts with his government's emphasis on meritocracy and development-oriented governance.

The rally in Coimbatore served as a platform for Modi to rally support for the NDA while sharply delineating the differences between his alliance and the incumbent DMK-led administration. His remarks are expected to intensify the political discourse in Tamil Nadu as election activities gain momentum.
