Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued a direct challenge to the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday. He responded strongly to comments made by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta. Gupta had referenced an alleged video involving AAP leader Atishi.
Forensic Investigation Already Conclusive
Mann stated that a forensic investigation has already provided clear results. The report conclusively established that Delhi Assembly Leader of Opposition Atishi did not make any disrespectful remarks. Mann emphasized this point during his media interaction in Chandigarh.
"The forensic report came, and the court also made its position clear," Mann told reporters. He added that if the BJP believes the Central Bureau of Investigation holds more authority than forensic laboratories, they should proceed with their desired probe.
BJP Accused of Adding Insulting Subtitles
The Punjab chief minister made a serious allegation against the BJP. He claimed the party actually insulted Sikh Gurus themselves. According to Mann, BJP members added false subtitles to the video in question.
"It was the BJP which insulted the Guru Sahibs by adding subtitles to the video," Mann asserted. His statement came as a counter to BJP's persistent allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party leader.
AAP Leadership Backs Mann's Position
AAP chief whip in the Delhi assembly Sanjeev Jha supported Mann's stance. Jha accused the BJP of telling a significant falsehood. He said the party is now attempting to transform that lie into accepted truth.
"The BJP told a very big lie and is now trying to turn that lie into the truth, but it was caught," Jha stated. He highlighted AAP's understanding of BJP's tactics, suggesting the party anticipated this controversy.
Preemptive Warning to Public
Jha revealed that AAP leadership had actually warned citizens about this situation. The party held a press conference three days before the controversy gained momentum.
"This is precisely why, 3 days ago, AAP already held a press conference and warned the public about the kind of lie the BJP was going to spread," Jha explained. He emphasized AAP's proactive approach to countering what they describe as BJP's misinformation campaigns.
The political confrontation continues as both parties exchange allegations. Mann's challenge places the ball firmly in BJP's court regarding any potential CBI investigation.
