Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging widespread pilferage in the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Speaking exclusively on India TV's Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma, Banerjee claimed that the pilferage was occurring at all levels, from top to bottom, and accused the BJP of mismanaging the temple project.
Allegations of Corruption in Ram Mandir Construction
Banerjee stated, "Pilferage was going on at all levels in the Ram Mandir construction. The BJP talks about transparency, but the reality is different." She further alleged that the funds collected for the temple were being misused, and the common people were being misled. The West Bengal Chief Minister also criticized the central government for not ensuring proper accountability in the project.
Criticism of NTA and NEET UG Re-exam
In the same interview, Banerjee took a strong stance against the National Testing Agency (NTA) over the controversy surrounding the NEET UG re-examination. She demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities and questioned the credibility of the NTA. "The way the NTA is handling the NEET UG re-exam is unacceptable. Students are suffering due to the incompetence of the agency," she said.
Banerjee called for a complete overhaul of the examination system to ensure fairness and transparency. She also urged the central government to take immediate action to restore the confidence of students and parents.
Political Attacks on BJP
The Trinamool Congress leader did not hold back in her criticism of the BJP-led central government. She accused the ruling party of focusing on divisive politics rather than addressing the real issues faced by the common people. "The BJP is only interested in creating a divide in the society. They are not bothered about the welfare of the people," she remarked.
Banerjee also highlighted the rising prices of essential commodities and unemployment as major concerns that the government has failed to address. She claimed that the BJP's policies were benefiting only a few industrialists while the poor were being neglected.
On Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma
The interview on Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma saw Banerjee answering a range of questions on national issues. She reiterated her party's commitment to secularism and social justice, and vowed to fight against the BJP's alleged authoritarianism. She also expressed confidence in the opposition's unity to take on the BJP in the upcoming elections.
When asked about the possibility of an alliance with other opposition parties, Banerjee said, "We are open to all possibilities to defeat the BJP. The opposition needs to come together to save the democracy."
Reactions from Political Circles
The allegations made by Banerjee have sparked a fresh round of political debate. BJP leaders dismissed her claims as baseless and accused her of making false statements to gain political mileage. However, opposition parties have supported Banerjee's demands for a probe into the Ram Mandir pilferage and the NEET UG re-exam controversy.
The issue is expected to dominate the political discourse in the coming days, with both sides gearing up for a fierce battle of words.
