Lokesh Chandra, previously serving as Chairman and Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company, has been appointed as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) in the Chief Minister's Office. He replaces Ashwini Bhide, who has been reassigned as the Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a critical role in Mumbai's urban administration.

Her expertise in disaster management is anticipated to enhance conservation efforts and resource management.

Additional Transfers and Departmental Changes

Parimal Singh, who was Project Director of the Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjivanee Project in Mumbai, has been posted as Secretary (Agriculture). This appointment aims to strengthen agricultural policies and implementation in the state.

Tukaram Mundhe, previously Secretary in the Divyang Kalyan Department, has been reassigned as Secretary in the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation, Revenue and Forest Department. Manik Gursal will step into Mundhe's former role as Divyang Kalyan Department Secretary, focusing on welfare initiatives for differently-abled individuals.

Lahu Mali has been appointed as Managing Director of the Shivshahi Punarvasan Project, a key housing and rehabilitation initiative. Prerna Deshbhratar, who served as Sales Tax Joint Commissioner, has been named Commissioner of Fisheries, overseeing the state's aquatic resources and industry.

Prithviraj B P, Additional Municipal Commissioner in the Pune Municipal Corporation, has been transferred to become Municipal Commissioner of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, addressing urban governance needs in the region.

Anticipated Further Transfers and Current Holding Charges

Officials have indicated that more transfers are likely in the near future, as several top bureaucrats currently hold multiple departmental charges. For instance, Aseem Gupta, who serves as ACS in Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's office, is managing the Urban Development and Housing Departments concurrently. This situation underscores the ongoing adjustments within the state's administrative framework to streamline operations and responsibilities.

The reshuffle reflects the Maharashtra government's proactive approach to administrative restructuring, aiming to enhance service delivery and governance across various sectors. These changes are part of a broader strategy to align bureaucratic roles with current developmental priorities and challenges in the state.
