The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced a significant reshuffle within the state police department, effecting the transfer of several senior IPS and State Police Service officers to key positions across the state. Some transfers that were made last week have also been canceled as part of this administrative overhaul.
Key IPS Transfers
Praveen Padwal, who previously served as Special Inspector General of the Nashik Range, has been reassigned to the role of Special IG for VIP security. Taking over his former position in Nashik is Sanjay Yenpure. Meanwhile, Sandeep Patil has been appointed as Special IG for the Nagpur Range.
Other Notable Appointments
IPS officer Sharda Raut, whose posting had been pending, has now been assigned as Special IG for Prevention of Atrocities on Women. Ramnath Pokale, formerly Special IG of Amravati, has been moved to the post of Special IG for Planning and Coordination. He will be succeeded by Mahesh Patil, who was transferred from Mumbai to IG Amravati just last week.
At the district level, DCP Amarsinh Jadhav of Thane has been transferred to Navi Mumbai, while DCP Vivek Pansarae moves from Mumbai to Thane. The department has also canceled the transfer of DCP Akbar Pathan (Mumbai Operations) to Nashik, a decision that had been made the previous week.
Transfers to Mumbai City
Several officers have been transferred to Mumbai city, including DCPs Priti Tipre, Sheela Sail, Dattatray Kamble, SS Burse, and Vinita Sahu. Additionally, Thane DCP Shrikant Paropkari has been posted to the Maritime Security division of the State Intelligence Department.
State Police Service Moves
In the State Police Service cadre, Shashikant Borate has been transferred to the role of Superintendent of Police for the State Police Control Room. Sambhaji Kadam has been appointed as Superintendent of Police for the Anti Terrorism Squad in Pune.
