Congress Leader Pawan Khera Escalates Allegations Against Assam CM After Police Raid

Congress leader Pawan Khera has launched a renewed offensive against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, following a police search at his Delhi residence. The political confrontation intensified as Khera raised serious questions about foreign assets and multiple citizenships linked to Sarma's family.

Fresh Allegations Surface About Foreign Company Links

In a detailed social media video shared by Congress, Khera presented what he claims is new information about a company named "Bhuyan Properties LLC" registered in Wyoming, USA. According to Khera, this company lists Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, the wife of Himanta Biswa Sarma, as the authorized manager.

"When the non-disclosure agreement was revoked, information emerged about this company with addresses in Wyoming," Khera stated. "Additional articles list Riniki Bhuyan Sharma as the authorized manager. This information became visible only after the non-disclosure was lifted."

Multiple Addresses and Citizenships Alleged

Khera provided specific details from what he claims are official documents:

  • Identification showing nationality as Antigua and Barbuda
  • Date of birth listed as July 31, 1973
  • Remarks indicating "Citizenship by investment"
  • Multiple nationalities acknowledged
  • Addresses listed in London, England; Dubai, UAE; and Dhaka, Bangladesh

"All this came from the State of Wyoming website after the non-disclosure agreement was revoked," Khera emphasized, challenging the timing and transparency of the information.

Demand for Investigation into Multiple Passports

The Congress leader reiterated previous allegations about Himanta Biswa Sarma allegedly holding multiple passports from Egypt, the UAE, and Antigua and Barbuda. Khera called for a thorough investigation to determine the authenticity of these documents.

"Passports from Egypt, a Golden Visa from the UAE, and a passport from Antigua and Barbuda. Whether they are real or fake, we are not in the government, so you should investigate," Khera demanded. "Did you, your agent, or any family member open these shell companies using fake KYC documents? Only an investigation can prove this."

Police Search and Political Intimidation Claims

Khera strongly criticized the Assam government's decision to file a police complaint against him, describing the recent search of his Delhi residence as politically motivated intimidation.

"A hundred policemen went to my small flat in Delhi. I wasn't there, no one from my family was there," he recounted. "They took away an old phone, a memento of my younger sister who passed away during COVID, a laptop I never use, and an iPad I hadn't even started using."

The Congress leader defiantly stated he would not be intimidated by such tactics: "You might have a habit of intimidating, Mr. Sharma, but we don't have a habit of being scared. I am from Mewar, I am a Congressman, I am a soldier of Rahul Gandhi. So, how can I be scared? I won't be scared."

Background of the Political Controversy

The current confrontation stems from a press conference where Khera initially alleged that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma held three passports and owned undisclosed assets abroad. The Sarma family has categorically rejected these claims, describing the documents as "AI-generated fabrications" and "doctored images."

Assam Police conducted the search at Khera's residence following an FIR lodged by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. Police officials stated they recovered "incriminating" material but declined to provide specific details. Khera's current whereabouts remain unknown, adding to the political tension.

Counter-Allegations and Election Context

Himanta Biswa Sarma has countered the allegations by questioning the source of Congress's documents, claiming they were sourced without authorization from Scribd. Sarma has also made allegations about "Pakistani links" involving Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Khera.

"Why did you take help from a Pakistani social media group? My allegation is why Pakistan is helping Gaurav Gogoi," Sarma stated during the exchange.

The political row has intensified significantly ahead of the Assam assembly elections scheduled for April 9, with campaigning set to conclude today evening. Vote counting will take place on May 4, making this controversy particularly significant in the current political climate.

Both sides have dug in their positions, with Congress demanding investigations into the allegations about foreign assets and multiple passports, while the Assam government maintains the documents presented by Congress are fabricated. The situation remains volatile as election day approaches.
