Samiran Singh, aged 28, a dedicated member of the 169th battalion of the Indian Army, was scheduled to return to his native Kuchladari village in Sankrail, Jhargram, on Saturday. Instead of his joyful arrival, the village received his mortal remains, solemnly wrapped in the tricolour.
Fatal Accident Claims Ten Brave Soldiers
Singh was one of ten courageous soldiers who lost their lives in a devastating accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The tragedy occurred when an Army vehicle plunged approximately 200 feet into a deep gorge, resulting in this profound loss for the nation and the families of the fallen heroes.
Emotional Scene as Body Arrives Home
When fellow soldiers from the Bravo Company brought Singh's body back to his village, an overwhelming wave of sorrow engulfed the community. His parents, relatives, and neighbours were overcome with emotion, breaking down in tears as they confronted the harsh reality of his untimely demise.

Gopiballavpur MLA Khagendranath Mahat arrived at Singh's residence to offer his condolences and pay final respects. He was accompanied by several local officials, including district council education officer Suman Sahu, coordinator Ajit Mahatu, the block development officer, and other block officials, all standing in solidarity with the grieving family.

At sunrise, Singh's body was respectfully taken to the village school ground, allowing locals to bid their final farewell. Villagers arrived with flowers and tear-filled eyes, creating a poignant atmosphere of collective mourning. Singh's mother, inconsolable in her grief, repeatedly recalled her son's promise to return home safely. His father stood speechless, his silent tears falling onto the national flag that draped his son's remains.
