Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has announced the formation of a separate faction within the party, claiming the support of 20 fellow MPs. In a statement on Monday, she revealed that the group has formally requested the Lok Sabha Speaker to provide them with distinct seating arrangements in the Parliament.
Allegations Against Party Leadership
Dastidar expressed frustration over being obstructed from functioning effectively within the party. She accused the Trinamool Congress leadership of enabling political attacks against her, which she claims have hindered her ability to serve her constituents. The MP emphasized that the faction aims to work collaboratively with both the central government and the state administration to drive development in West Bengal.
Call for Unity and Development
Despite the internal rift, Dastidar reiterated her commitment to the state's progress. She stated that the faction would prioritize developmental projects and seek cooperation from all stakeholders. The development comes amid growing tensions within the Trinamool Congress, with several MPs expressing dissent over party policies and leadership style.
Political analysts view this move as a significant challenge to the party's unity, potentially impacting its performance in upcoming elections. The Trinamool Congress leadership has yet to officially respond to Dastidar's claims.
