COAS Honors Veterans and Veer Naris Ahead of Army Day
Ahead of Army Day, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi honored Veer Naris and military veterans. This happened during the 10th Armed Forces Veterans Day event in Jaipur on Wednesday. General Dwivedi highlighted their immense contributions to the Army's legacy and national security.
The COAS praised veteran-led initiatives. He specifically mentioned projects focused on environmental protection and youth engagement. These efforts demonstrate the continued commitment of veterans beyond their service years.
Gallantry Awards and Recognitions Bestowed
General Dwivedi presided over a separate Investiture Ceremony. He conferred gallantry awards, COAS citations, and commendations on brave soldiers and units. This ceremony recognized exceptional valor and service.
The COAS also felicitated officials from the Zila Sainik Boards. These officials worked diligently to resolve issues faced by veterans. General Dwivedi released the 'Samman' magazine during the event. This publication was prepared by the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans.
Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Women's Welfare Association, participated in the ceremonies. She felicitated Veer Naris and Veer Matas, honoring their sacrifices and strength.
Welfare of Veterans Remains Top Priority
In his address, General Dwivedi reaffirmed a core commitment. The welfare of veterans and families of the fallen remains a top priority for the Indian Army. He described veterans as role models and lifelong ambassadors of the Army's ethos.
The Army Chief urged continued engagement with youth and the community. He emphasized that this engagement strengthens national unity, discipline, and resilience. "Whenever the nation called, our veterans stood firmly with the country under all circumstances," General Dwivedi stated.
Resettlement Efforts and Operational Contributions
Speaking about veteran resettlement, General Dwivedi shared positive news. The Army Welfare Placement Organization provided jobs to over 17,000 veterans this year. This initiative supports their transition to civilian life.
The COAS also referenced veterans' crucial contributions during Operation Sindoor. "Whether it is strategic brainstorming, wargaming, red-teaming, or operational planning, your contributions exceeded expectations," he said. This acknowledgment highlights the valuable expertise veterans continue to offer.
Investiture Ceremony Recognizes Outstanding Units
The Army Investiture Ceremony saw the presentation of numerous honors. General Dwivedi presented 10 Sena Medals for Gallantry. He also awarded 49 COAS Unit Citations.
Additionally, COAS Certificates of Appreciation went to 60 units. This included 26 units specifically recognized for their efforts in Operation Sindoor. The ceremony celebrated the outstanding work of units across all Commands.
The event also honored 6 Veteran Achievers and 3 civilians. They received felicitations for their distinguished contributions in support of the Indian Army.
