Chief Imam Forecasts PoK Reintegration, Highlights Kashmir's Progress Post-Article 370
In a significant statement from Srinagar, Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, the Chief Imam of the All India Imam Organisation, declared on Friday that Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is poised for imminent reunification with India. He emphasized that this anticipated reintegration stems from the desires of PoK's residents, who are closely observing the developmental strides in Jammu and Kashmir following the revocation of Article 370.
PoK's Impending Return to India
Addressing reporters in Kashmir, Ilyasi asserted, "I want to convey to our neighboring nation from this very soil that PoK, an inseparable part of India, will undoubtedly rejoin our country. The people of PoK are advocating for a referendum to facilitate this reunion." He elaborated that the populace there is eager to reunite with India, inspired by the visible progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
"With divine grace, their 'ghar wapsi' (homecoming) will occur shortly. It is their own aspiration, fueled by witnessing Kashmir's advancement. Observing today's thriving Kashmir, PoK's reintegration is inevitable and forthcoming," Ilyasi added, expressing optimism about the timeline.
Transformation in Jammu and Kashmir
Ilyasi praised what he described as a "revitalized" Kashmir, highlighting notable improvements in prosperity and tourism. "Kashmir has undergone a remarkable transformation; it now exemplifies excellence with widespread prosperity and a surge in tourism. The local community is thriving," he noted.
He contrasted the current scenario with past unrest, stating, "Previously, youth and children here were associated with stone-pelting. Today, they wield pens, dedicating themselves to education and constructive pursuits." This shift, according to Ilyasi, underscores the positive changes post-Article 370 abrogation.
Encouraging Tourism Amid Challenges
Referencing the tragic Pahlagam terror attack last year, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local pony handler, Ilyasi acknowledged a temporary dip in tourism. However, he urged visitors to return, assuring them of a secure environment. "I encourage everyone to explore Kashmir, as the climate of fear has dissipated. The region is now safe and welcoming for tourists," he affirmed.
Call for Peace in West Asia
On the broader geopolitical front, Ilyasi addressed the conflict in West Asia, condemning war as destructive and expressing hope for peace. "Wars inflict universal harm and symbolize devastation. I place my trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, believing that, with divine intervention, he will mediate to swiftly end the conflict, restoring peace and tranquillity," he stated.
His comments reflect a dual focus on national integration and global harmony, aligning with ongoing discussions about Kashmir's future and international diplomacy.
