Hubballi Honors Dr. BR Ambedkar on His 135th Birth Anniversary
The city of Hubballi in North Karnataka was abuzz with vibrant celebrations on Tuesday, marking the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Various events were organized across the region, drawing participation from political leaders, educational institutions, and social organizations to pay homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Floral Tributes and Community Gatherings
MLA Mahesh Tenginakai took center stage in the festivities, offering flowers to the statue of Dr. Ambedkar located on Railway Station Road in Hubballi. This act was part of a larger celebration by Dalit organizations and local leaders, who gathered to garland the statue, creating a festive atmosphere filled with reverence and joy. The taluk administration and social welfare department also joined in, hosting a program at the taluk panchayat Sabha Bhavan in Hubballi, where MLA Mahesh Tenginakai inaugurated the event by offering flowers to a portrait of Ambedkar.
Educational and Institutional Observances
Karnataka State Law University in Hubballi observed Ambedkar Jayanti with a ceremony that began with the singing of the Bhima Geeta and floral tributes. Presiding over the program, Vice-Chancellor Prof C Basavaraju highlighted that Ambedkar's thoughts, ideals, and contributions remain an integral part of society. Similarly, the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hubballi (KCCI), celebrated by offering flowers to a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar. President GK Adappagoudar emphasized that Ambedkar's principles, his valuable contributions to the Constitution, and his messages of equality and social justice serve as a guide for all.
Cultural and Academic Programs
KLE Institute's Sri Kadasiddheshwar Kala Mahavidyalaya and HS Kothambari Science Institute also marked BR Ambedkar Jayanti with special events. Dr. Basavaraj Jigali, head of the history department, participated as a resource person, enriching the program with insights into Ambedkar's legacy. The event was presided over by college principal Sumangala B Patil, underscoring the academic community's commitment to honoring Ambedkar's teachings. Various other organizations across Hubballi joined in the celebrations, making it a city-wide tribute to the great leader.
