A massive fire engulfed the Gaur Green Avenue society in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, causing panic among residents as flames spread across several floors of a residential building. The incident occurred in the afternoon, with thick black smoke billowing from the upper floors of the high-rise apartment complex. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and rescue operations are underway.

The fire reportedly started on the 12th floor of the building and quickly spread to the floors above due to strong winds. Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames leaping from windows and balconies, with debris falling to the ground. Residents were seen evacuating the building in a panic, some using staircases while others waited for help on terraces. The fire department received the call around 2:30 PM and immediately dispatched multiple fire engines to the site.
CM Yogi Adityanath Takes Notice
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and directed the district administration to ensure swift rescue and relief operations. He instructed officials to deploy adequate fire-fighting resources and provide medical assistance to those affected. The CM also ordered a probe into the cause of the fire and asked for a detailed report. He assured all possible support to the victims and their families.
Rescue Operations Underway
Rescue teams, including fire personnel and police, are working to evacuate residents trapped in the building. NDRF teams have also been called in to assist. So far, no casualties have been reported, but several people are feared to be trapped. Ambulances are on standby, and nearby hospitals have been put on alert. The fire is being brought under control, but the exact cause is yet to be determined. Officials suspect a short circuit may have triggered the blaze.
Residents of the society have expressed shock and anger over the incident, questioning the safety measures in place. Many complained that the fire alarm did not work and that fire extinguishers were not functional. The society's management has been asked to cooperate with the investigation.
