Gautam Budh Nagar Voter Roll Undergoes Major Correction

The electoral landscape in Gautam Budh Nagar district is witnessing a significant transformation as the final voter roll is set to shrink substantially from its previous count. Covering the Noida, Dadri and Jewar constituencies, the electorate is expected to drop from 18.7 lakh to approximately 15 lakh voters following weeks of intensive scrutiny and database verification.

Steep Decline During Draft Stage

The correction process revealed an even more dramatic reduction at the draft stage. During the publication under Special Intensive Revision, the electorate had plummeted to just 14.3 lakh voters, representing a staggering loss of nearly 4.4 lakh names from the earlier count. The number has since recovered modestly after processing fresh applications, bringing the final figure to slightly over 15 lakh voters. This is particularly notable given that the district has an estimated population of 25 lakh residents.

Application Processing and Database Cleanup

Officials reported receiving approximately 76,000 applications from new voters until March 6, with nearly 73,000 of these being accepted for inclusion in the final roll. The revision exercise focused heavily on voters flagged during scrutiny, with official data showing that 6.2 lakh notices were issued across the district's three assembly segments.

These notices included 1.7 lakh unmapped voters and 4.5 lakh individuals marked for logical discrepancies in the database. Among the constituencies, Noida and Dadri each received 2.6 lakh notices, while Jewar constituency received 1 lakh notices.

Final Voter Distribution Across Constituencies

After thorough scrutiny, the final roll is expected to carry about 15 lakh voters in total, comprising 8.2 lakh men, 6.8 lakh women and 50 third-gender voters. Dadri constituency will have the largest electorate at 6 lakh voters, including 3.3 lakh men, 2.8 lakh women and 34 third-gender voters.

Noida follows closely with 5.9 lakh voters, consisting of 3.2 lakh men, 2.6 lakh women and 10 third-gender voters. Jewar remains the smallest segment with 3.1 lakh voters, comprising 1.7 lakh men, 1.4 lakh women and 6 third-gender voters. Notably, men outnumber women in all three constituencies.

Continuous Registration Process

District magistrate Medha Roopam emphasized that the process of adding eligible voters would continue even after the final roll publication. "The electorate can expand further as Form 6 applications will continue to be accepted even after publication of the final electoral roll. This will ensure all eligible citizens can register and participate in the democratic process," she stated.

The district magistrate explained that the revision was designed to improve both accuracy and transparency in the electoral database. The administration conducted detailed, notice-based verification of flagged and unmapped entries to clean up the database while protecting genuine voters' rights.

This comprehensive revision represents one of the most significant electoral database corrections in recent times for the Gautam Budh Nagar district, ensuring a more accurate representation of the actual voting population ahead of upcoming elections.
