Union Minister Suresh Gopi stated on Sunday that the government will review fuel prices based on the availability of crude oil supply. This announcement comes amid recent hikes in petrol, diesel, and LPG prices that have impacted consumers across the country.
Government's Stance on Fuel Pricing
Speaking to reporters, Suresh Gopi emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring stable fuel prices while considering global crude oil dynamics. He noted that the review mechanism will take into account supply constraints and international market trends.
Recent Price Hikes
In the past few weeks, petrol and diesel prices have increased by several rupees per liter, with LPG cylinder rates also seeing a rise. The minister attributed these adjustments to fluctuations in global crude oil prices and supply chain disruptions.
Gopi further assured that the government is working to minimize the burden on common citizens through strategic interventions. He highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure affordable crude oil from producing nations.
Industry experts have welcomed the review mechanism, stating that it brings transparency to fuel pricing. However, opposition parties have criticized the government for not capping prices amid rising inflation.
The minister concluded by saying that any future price changes will be communicated after thorough analysis of supply data.
