Maharashtra Chief Minister Reaffirms State's Role in India's Economic Growth at Davos Forum

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared his government's strong commitment to India's economic development and growth. He made this statement during his current visit to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Traditional Welcome in Zurich Highlights Cultural Ties

Fadnavis landed in Zurich on Sunday for a five-day trip. The Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, Switzerland, an association of people with roots in Maharashtra, gave him a traditional welcome. This group warmly received the Chief Minister upon his arrival.

"I am deeply touched by the warmth and affection of the Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, Switzerland," Fadnavis said. He noted that the traditional attire, methods, and customs, along with a Wari performance, beautifully showcased Maharashtra's rich cultural heritage. This display brought the true essence of Maharashtra to Zurich, he added.

Marathi Language Gains Global Recognition and Support

At the event, Amol Savarkar, coordinator of the International Marathi Forum, announced significant progress for the Marathi language. Through the Forum's efforts, Marathi language classes have now started in several schools across Switzerland.

Fadnavis expressed joy and honor for Maharashtra and the Marathi language regarding this development. He emphasized that the Forum's work is helping preserve the language and promote its use globally.

The Chief Minister also highlighted a major achievement for Marathi. He stated that Marathi received the status of an 'Abhijaat Bhasha' or classical language. This recognition came with the support of the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Connecting the Global Marathi Diaspora for Prosperity

Fadnavis referred to the important role of the Marathi diaspora worldwide. He pointed out that Marathi communities across the globe are doing transformative work.

"To connect, celebrate, and amplify these efforts, 'Maha-NRI Connect' is being created," the Chief Minister explained. This initiative aims to unite Marathi people everywhere through Swadesh, Swadharma, and Swabhasha. It seeks to open new paths of prosperity for the community.

Mumbai's Development as a Global City Remains a Priority

Reiterating his government's commitment, Fadnavis focused on developing Mumbai as a global city. He asserted that Maharashtra continues to lead in development efforts.

"Maharashtra contributes significantly to India's growth and towards a trillion-dollar economy," Fadnavis stated firmly. He emphasized the state's ongoing role in driving national economic progress.

The Chief Minister's participation in the World Economic Forum underscores Maharashtra's active engagement on the global stage. His statements reflect a dual focus on economic development and cultural preservation as key pillars of the state's strategy.
