Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur confirmed that authorities received reports of an "explosion-like sound" near the BJP office shortly after the incident. "Prima facie, it appears that a small crude-type device was thrown," she told reporters during a briefing. Police officials stated that initial findings suggest an improvised explosive device was targeted at the political party's premises.
Visual evidence circulating from the scene showed a suspect tossing a blue-coloured, grenade-like object toward the building before fleeing the area. The blast was heard moments after the object was thrown, according to eyewitness accounts and security footage being examined by investigators.

Multiple security teams were immediately deployed to investigate the serious incident. Personnel from the local crime branch and operations cell reached the spot soon after the explosion occurred.
