Delhi Weather Update: Maximum Temperature to Stay Below 40°C
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to remain below 40 degrees Celsius over the next few days. There are chances of rain and thunderstorms until June 21, though no colour coded warning has been issued for the same.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature rose to 38.1 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below the normal. This was a significant increase from the previous day when it was recorded at 33.3 degrees Celsius. No rainfall was received between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Wednesday.
A Met official stated, “A rise in maximum temperature by 3-4 degrees Celsius is likely during the next three days, followed by a fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the subsequent 24 hours. However, it may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter.”
Minimum Temperature and Rainfall Data
The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal, compared to 25.7 degrees Celsius the previous day. The minimum temperature is expected to remain between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
So far in June, Safdarjung, Delhi's base station, has logged 31.2 mm of rainfall. The normal rainfall for the entire month is 74.1 mm. The normal monsoon onset date for Delhi is June 27.
Air Quality Update
Delhi's air quality improved to the 'satisfactory' category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 92 on Wednesday, down from 116 in the 'moderate' range on Tuesday.
