Congress MP warns DMK on targeting Rahul Gandhi

Karur: Congress MP S Jothimani on Wednesday cautioned the DMK’s party organ Murasoli against repeatedly targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress party’s restraint should not be interpreted as weakness.

Addressing reporters in Karur, Jothimani said Murasoli had criticised Rahul Gandhi for the second time in recent weeks and warned that Congress leaders were equally capable of responding in a similar manner. “We have chosen not to react because the DMK stood with us during difficult times, and we too supported them when they faced challenges. We also contested the previous elections as allies. Our silence should not be mistaken for an inability to respond,” she said.

The Karur MP urged the DMK to maintain the same political courtesy that Congress follows and expressed confidence that DMK president and former chief minister M K Stalin would intervene to prevent such attacks from continuing. Referring to chief minister Vijay’s TVK, Jothimani said the party should join the INDIA bloc in the interest of Tamil Nadu’s welfare.
