Congress Leaders Intensify Campaign in Puducherry, Highlight Telangana's Welfare Record

In a significant political push ahead of the Puducherry elections, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Bhatti Vikramarka, and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar made a fervent appeal to voters on Friday. They urged the electorate to support candidates from the Congress-DMK alliance with a substantial majority, emphasizing the need to protect democratic values and uphold the constitutional freedoms and dignity of citizens.

Extensive Campaigning in Key Constituencies

Bhatti Vikramarka, accompanied by Ponnam Prabhakar and Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president Vaidyalingam, conducted an extensive campaign tour across crucial assembly segments. They focused their efforts on the Manavely constituency, rallying support for Congress candidate Anantharaman, and the M Balam constituency, where they campaigned for Congress candidate Lakshmikant.

During his speeches, Bhatti Vikramarka made a compelling case for the Congress party, stating, "Bring the Congress party to power and save Puducherry. The Secular Progressive Alliance, comprising Congress and DMK, is firmly committed to implementing all the promises it has made." He cautioned voters against misinformation spread by the National Democratic Alliance regarding the feasibility of these guarantees, asserting that electing the SPA alliance is the only pathway to a prosperous future for Puducherry.

Telangana's Implementation as Proof of Commitment

Addressing skepticism about whether the Congress can deliver on its promises, the Deputy Chief Minister pointed to Telangana as a concrete example. "Immediately after coming to power, the Congress government in Telangana began implementing its guarantees from the very first Cabinet meeting," Bhatti declared. He detailed several key achievements:

  • Farm loans worth ₹21,000 crore belonging to 25 lakh farmers have been waived off.
  • An annual allocation of ₹18,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme provides ₹12,000 per acre to farmers.
  • A total of 67,173 government jobs have been filled through transparent recruitment processes, with appointment letters distributed publicly.
  • The Mahalakshmi scheme offers free bus travel for women across the state.
  • 200 units of free electricity are being provided to eligible households.
  • 4,50,000 Indiramma houses have been sanctioned, with ₹5 lakh financial assistance allocated for each unit.
  • The ₹500 gas cylinder scheme is actively being implemented to ease the burden on families.

Vision for Economic Growth and Development

Expressing strong confidence in the Congress model, Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted Telangana's ambitious economic goals. Under the Telangana Rising Vision Document-2047, the state aims to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and expand to a $3 trillion economy by 2047. "Telangana's growth rate stands at an impressive 10.8%, demonstrating that development is achievable without increasing taxes," he asserted. This, he argued, serves as a testament to the Congress government's effective governance and fiscal management in Telangana.

The campaign efforts underscore the Congress party's strategy to leverage its performance in Telangana as a blueprint for Puducherry, aiming to convince voters of their capability to deliver on welfare promises and drive sustainable economic progress.
