Congress Slams Modi's Foreign Policy Over Israel Visit Timing and Operation Sindoor
Congress Criticizes Modi's Israel Visit Timing, Operation Sindoor

Congress Launches Scathing Attack on Modi Government's Foreign Policy Decisions

The foreign policy approach of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration has come under intense scrutiny and criticism from the opposition Congress party. A senior Congress leader has leveled serious allegations regarding the timing of the Prime Minister's highly publicized visit to Israel, which occurred merely two days before Israel, in coordination with the United States, initiated military action against Iran on February 28th.

Questioning the Israel Visit Timing and Global Stature

The military action targeted and eliminated top echelons of the Tehran regime, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Congress leader, Ramesh, posted on social media platform X, expressing strong disapproval. He stated that the conflict commenced on February 28th with targeted assassinations of Iran's highest leadership, just two days after Prime Minister Modi concluded his "much-trumpeted" visit to Israel.

Ramesh argued that this visit diminished India's global stature and standing, as Mr. Modi allegedly said nothing about Israel's actions in Gaza, described as genocide, and its aggressively expansionist policies in the occupied West Bank. He framed this silence as a demonstration of cowardice, particularly in light of rhetoric from Washington.

Operation Sindoor's Diplomatic Setbacks and Pakistan's Role

Furthermore, Ramesh raised substantial objections over the perceived failure of Operation Sindoor's global outreach. He drew a direct comparison with the international handling of Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks during former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's tenure. According to Ramesh, the current government failed to convince the international community that Pakistan is a failed state, an achievement he attributes to Dr. Singh's diplomacy post-2008.

The role played by Pakistan in facilitating a ceasefire is described as a "severe setback" to both the substance and style of Mr. Modi's highly personalized diplomacy. Ramesh contended that New Delhi's efforts to isolate Islamabad globally for its continuing support to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have not yielded the intended results.

Criticism of Strategy and Unexplained Halt of Operation

He highlighted the paradox of a bankrupt economy, dependent entirely on external donors, playing such a significant diplomatic role, which he says calls into question Mr. Modi's strategy of engagement and narrative management. Additionally, Ramesh pointed out that the government has never explained why Operation Sindoor was suddenly and abruptly halted on May 10th, 2025.

The first announcement of this halt came from the US Secretary of State, and the US President has since claimed credit for it numerous times. This, according to the Congress leader, further undermines the Modi government's foreign policy autonomy and effectiveness.

Personal Attack on PM Modi's Global Image

In a sharp personal critique, Ramesh took aim at PM Modi's global image, accusing him of remaining silent on key international developments. He stated that there is a palpable sigh of relief everywhere, but now the self-styled Vishwaguru stands thoroughly exposed, with his self-declared 56-inch chest metaphorically shrunk and shrivelled.

The criticism extends to what Ramesh describes as unacceptable and disgraceful language used by leaders in the White House, implying a failure by Modi to address these issues. This comprehensive attack underscores deep political divisions over India's foreign policy direction and its execution under the current leadership.
